Class of 2021 Senior Update (04-21-2021)

Hello seniors and their parents,

This will be a long call out and email, but the information shared is extremely important. First, you may know that the two senior class advisors are Ms.Gail Hall and myself. Together, we are making plans for senior activities. Last year was a great disappointment to us all as the Class of 2020 missed out on many of their senior events and activities. This year we are going to try to hold as many of them as permitted.

I need to explain that the school has some school sponsored events and some that are not tied to the school. The non-sponsored events are run by parents and the PTSA.  Please do not get their events confused with what the school is doing.

Non School Sponsored Events:

  • The Senior Trip to Universal Studios IS NOT a school sponsored activity.

  • The Senior Grad Party IS NOT a school sponsored activity.

If there are questions about these two activities or events, please DO NOT contact the school, but rather reach out to the PTSA and their parent committees at [email protected].

School Sponsored Events:

Below is an outline for events and dates the school is on. Additionally, we have created a SENIOR RESOURCE page that will provide updated information as we gain new details for these events.

  • Monday, June 7th at  6 PM | Senior Awards | Location: In the (outside) Stadium.

    • At this event over 100 seniors will be recognized for special awards and achievements.

  • Friday, June 11th, 9 AM | Cap and Gown Distribution | Location: Start in the (outside) stadium.

  • Saturday, June 12th, 3 PM | Graduation | Location: At (outside) Petco Park.

  • Monday, June 14th, 6 PM | Senior Dinner and Senior Movie Night | Location: in the (outside) stadium.

  • Tuesday, June 15th, 1 PM | Cap and Gown Collection and Diploma Distribution | Location: Outside doors) of the gym.

  • Wednesday, June 23rd, 6 PM to 10 PM | Senior Prom | Location: At the Hyatt Regency, Mission Bay, (outside) Regatta Pavilion.

School is required for all seniors the last three days of the school year.  How we “do school” for our seniors can and will look different from the regular (in-person/online) school days. More details will come out later regarding the last three days (June 11th, June 14th, and June 15th).

We had planned on holding the Senior Prom on Saturday, June 5th, but have been told by district health officials that the current health guidelines do not permit us to have a prom on this night at this time.  The reason we are seeking an alternative later date in June is because the Governor has said he may lift the tiered color health guidelines after June 15th. If he does this, it may mean we could hold our prom on Wednesday, June 23rd. Please know we will again make our formal outside prom request to district staff in the coming weeks.

Because we will not likely know if we can hold a prom the night of June 23rd until much later, NO STUDENT should buy or make purchases of dresses, shoes, tux rentals, etc. These kinds of purchases will have to be done much later in June when we hear more about whether the restrictions have been lifted and whether we have approval from district officials.

In the meantime. We need to know how many would want to come to prom and how many would come to the Senior Dinner and Movie night. Both of these have costs based on the number of students attending and we need to know what the numbers are to prepare accordingly. Please complete this Senior Survey for the Prom and Dinner/Movie Night.
