School Update (02-03-2021)
Good evening Centurions, a few school updates. This week we started up cross country and field hockey on campus. We have a number of other sporting teams starting on the 15th of February. This week we also restarted having some students on campus for appointment -based learning. Right now we have 15 students attending classes and hope to increase this number within the next few weeks.
We are pleased to share that UCHS is participating in the Alliance for a Healthier Generation’s Healthy Schools Program!
The Healthy Schools Program is an evidence-based initiative that supports our efforts to implement healthier policies and practices. Research shows a strong link between a young person’s practice of healthy habits, including a good diet and regular physical activity, and an improvement in their overall life outcomes.
By participating, our school is creating a healthier generation where students, teachers, and staff eat better and move more. To move towards fulfilling our goals, we have established a Wellness Committee composed of students, staff and parents. Committee members have been given an assessment created by the district to determine our strengths and weaknesses. Based on the results of the assessment, we will develop goals and an action plan each for students, parents and staff.
At the February School Site Council meeting, the committee will present the results of the assessment. Also at this meeting, goals and action plans will be discussed.
We will keep you all posted as we will communicate the actions we will put in place for the benefit of all stakeholders.
Regards, Mr. O.
