School Update (11-06-2020)
Good evening UCHS families. As a school update, the district recently offered district staff an early retirement plan for those willing to retire early. Individuals taking the early retirement health care plan will complete their last day of work on December 18, 2020. We have one teacher who will be taking the early retirement package and Vice Principal Jo Mcglin.
Both our educators who will be retiring in December have had long and distinguished careers. We will miss them both. Please reach out to Ms. McGlin and the teacher, to be named later, and offer them your well-wishes!
In November and December, we will be hiring a teacher to be ready for when we return to school after the winter break. We also will start the process for selecting a new vice principal for the school. Hiring a new vice principal involves four steps.
First, we will gather recommendations as to what students, staff, parents are seeking in the next vice principal for the school. Please use the Criteria Input Form to provide feedback, as we will use this information to determine criteria for the new vice principal screening and selection process.
Second, the district will hold an interview day for prospective vice principals. This day will be an initaling screening to determine which candidates best align to the criteria the schools outlined for their opening. Along with UCHS, Scripps Ranch High School and Mira Mesa High School will also be selecting new vice principals for their schools.
Third, we will put together a panel of teachers (3), classified staff (2), parents (2), and one student (1), to participate in the actual interview process.
Fourth, the outcome of the interviews will go to the Superintendent and BOE to make a final decision for the hiring of vice principals at our schools.
If you are interested in being included as a panel member for interviews, please indicate so on the Criteria Input Form by November 17, 2020.
