School Update (04-08-2021)

I must share we are having a very difficult time securing the final list of students attending in-person instruction next week. Some families went online to take the survey and think they completed it and did not. Despite making calls home, some did not take the survey and this is leaving us in the dark about their intentions. Once again, we ask that all students/parents check This List Attached for in-person school. This list verifies whether your student is listed as coming to school next week. You do not need to say or do anything if you see your student’s ID number listed. However, if you do not see your student’s number listed, and you think your student was supposed to be coming next week, please email Ms. Fabi Dunker at fdunker@sandi.net

We are told transportation will be communicating with all students and their parents eligible for transportation to school. This communication will include pick up and drop off locations and times.  Another UCHS contact for transportation is Mrs. Norma Smith.  She can be reached at nsmith@sandi.net

For next week, there are around 30 students who have had a schedule change for Quarter 4.  This was done to balance classes in an attempt to maximize the number of students who can attend school four days a week starting April 19th. We will send out the ID numbers for those impacted tomorrow.  Additionally, we have four teachers who will not be able to teach on campus for personal reasons. They are: Ms. Conrad, Ms. Wilson, Ms. Franz, and Mr. Welsh.  Students who have these four teachers will report to the auditorium during the periods they have these teachers.

As a reminder, students are to bring their school supplies, backpacks, cell phones if they have one, water bottle labeled, and their computer fully charged and bring a charger and ready for learning. They should also bring headphones or earbuds if they have them.  The school has around 100 on hand for students and we have ordered another 250.

As students and staff come back on campus, we want to alert everyone that we are coming back to wild life that may or may not be hip to social distancing.  Yes, I am talking about rattlesnakes.  All should be on the lookout as we make our way near the bungalows, on campus, and spaces around walkways to and from school.  We have found a few rattlesnake skins on the upper fields and around campus. They are not used to having us back on campus.

Have a good evening, Mr. O.
